Hippity Hoppity...Easter's on Its Way!
Friends,
During these strange times, we at Handspun Hope are challenged to find something that seems routine…a bit of normalcy during this unprecedented pandemic.
And, ready or not, Easter is coming and, honestly,….we are so ready for this special holiday and all of the hope that comes along with it.
We will have another post later in the week about Easter….and resurrection…and the powerful connection to Rwanda. For now, we want to show off a few of the Easter-centric items from our new Hope Artisan Collective line, namely…
BUNNIES AND DRESSES AND SHEEP…OH MY!
Before you say anything we know, we know….
…most Sunday services are cancelled this year. Most of us will be celebrating the resurrection from the safety of our own living rooms. But it’s still Easter. It’s still special. And so many of you have said you’ll be dressing up regardless and hunting eggs anyway.
Here are a few products that might your at-home Easter celebration just a bit sweeter. And, to sweeten the pot further…

ESTHER ANGORA RABBIT
Oh, this is the sweetest lovey for your little one! Esther is made by the women we employ at Handspun Hope in Rwanda. The yarn is a blend of wools from our own flock of Merino sheep and our own colony of German Angora Rabbits. She is lovingly knitted by hand and comes in a variety of colors made from organic, plant-based dyes.
You will not believe how SOFT she is!
HAND-FELTED SHEEP and RABBIT SCULPTURES
These hand made beauties are guaranteed to tug at your hearts! (Full disclosure - while these are adorable, we market our felted animals as sculptures, not toys, and do not recommend them for children).
We are in love with Bethie Bunny and Lilly Lamb. Either (or both) would look lovely decorating an Easter table centerpiece. Both come in an ornament option as well and look darling on an Easter tree if you have one.
Our felted sculptures hold a special place in our hearts. They are lovingly crafted by ladies working for Handspun and, in particular, young graduates from a local school for the deaf in Musanze. (You can read a post about one of these incredibly talented young ladies by clicking here).
HAND SMOCKED DRESSES
Our hand-smocked dresses are made in Madagascar and have been one of our best sellers for YEARS. These sweet dresses are hand smocked and embroidered by a young woman named Tentely. We met Tentely and her family several years ago on a buying trip in Madagascar. She and her family are incredibly talented and we are consistently blown away by their attention to detail.
In addition to being adorable, we love how forgiving they are. They machine wash and dry beautifully. They have a tie in the back and stretchy smocking in the front, making them wonderfully adjustable on little growing bodies.
And…they transition perfectly from one season to the next. Wear it as is in the spring summer. Then, when temperatures cool off, throw a long-sleeved shirt and tights underneath or a cardigan over the top and you have a wonderful winter look. We aren’t kidding when we say customers tell us they have kiddos who wear the same dress for years!
